Type 17 countersunk timber screws have a cutting slot at the point that drills its own pilot hole as the screw goes in, so timber splits less near board ends and pre-drilling is rarely needed. The countersunk head sits flush with the timber surface.
Linkworld supplies Type 17 countersunk timber screws with a multi-layer Ruspert coating, from 6g to 14g and 25 to 200 mm long. Ruspert is a baked ceramic and zinc coating used on outdoor screws, and the colour can be agreed with your order. We pack in bulk cartons or in your own branded packs.

Where Type 17 Timber Screws Are Used
- Outdoor timber fences, pergolas, landscaping and garden structures
- Treated pine framing and outdoor builds in treated timber
- Timber framing general fixing in studs, joists and blocking
- Sheet fixing plywood and fibre cement sheets to timber
Why Ruspert Coating
Ruspert is a multi-layer coating: a zinc layer, a chemical conversion layer and a baked ceramic top coat. It is used on outdoor and treated timber screws as an alternative to zinc plating, and the top coat can be made in different colours.
For coastal jobs or where the screw will be wet for long periods, stainless steel is still the safer choice. Final screw selection for structural work should follow the building design.
Common Purchasing Mistakes
Writing “Ruspert” without the colour. Ruspert comes in several colours. State the colour on the order.
Using zinc screws outdoors. Zinc plated screws suit indoor work. Choose Ruspert or stainless for outdoor timber.
Short screws in thick timber. Aim for at least two-thirds of the screw length in the base timber.
Mixing drives under one code. Phillips, square and Torx versions should have separate codes.
