Stainless double thread Torx screws are timber screws with two thread starts and a Torx (star) drive, made for decking and outdoor timber. The double thread drives in faster, and the Torx drive holds the bit firmly, so stainless screws, which are softer than carbon steel, are less likely to strip or cam out.
Linkworld supplies double thread Torx screws in 304 and 316 stainless steel for decking distributors, timber merchants and builders’ suppliers in Australia and New Zealand. We pack in bulk cartons or in your own branded boxes and tubs, and other sizes and head styles can be made to your drawing or sample.

Where Stainless Torx Screws Are Used
- Timber decking softwood and hardwood decks
- Coastal and pool areas where 316 stainless resists salt and chlorine
- Cladding and screens exterior timber cladding and battens
- Outdoor structures pergolas, stairs and handrails
- Treated timber where galvanised screws may stain or corrode
304 or 316 Stainless Steel
304 stainless steel suits general outdoor timber work away from the coast. 316 stainless steel contains molybdenum and is the usual choice for decks near the sea, around pools and in other corrosive locations.
Choose a Type 17 point for hardwood, where it cuts its own hole, and match the length to the board thickness and the joist below.
Common Purchasing Mistakes
Using 304 near the coast. For coastal and pool decks, specify 316 stainless steel.
Choosing the wrong drive size. Keep one Torx size per gauge across your range, so installers only need one bit.
Short screws in thick boards. The screw must pass through the board and hold well in the joist.
Mixing grades under one code. 304 and 316 screws look alike. Put the grade on every label.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why use Torx drive on stainless steel screws?
Stainless steel is softer than hardened carbon steel. A Torx drive grips the bit better, so the head is less likely to strip.
What is a double thread screw?
It has two thread starts, so it drives in faster than a single thread screw of the same pitch.
Should I use 304 or 316 stainless decking screws?
316 for coastal, pool and other corrosive areas; 304 for general outdoor work away from the coast.
What sizes do you supply?
10g, 12g and 14g in lengths of 50 to 100 mm. Other sizes can be made to drawing.
Can you supply stainless Torx screws in our own packs?
Yes. We pack in bulk cartons or in your own branded boxes and tubs.
